John Callentine: Custom Handcrafted Furniture and Doors

I’m a self-taught custom furniture builder, designer, and home builder with over 40 years of experience. I work mainly in the Craftsman style using traditional mortise and tenon and dovetail joinery. I like to use contrasting woods, with mesquite being a favorite for accents. I personally design, build, and finish everything that leaves my shop.

About My Work

I build beautiful handcrafted custom furniture, doors, and cabinets and personally construct and finish each signature item. My pride of workmanship begins with the art of wood selection, wherein each piece of wood is meticulously chosen to ensure that it’s beautiful and unique qualities will contribute to the harmony of the whole. Grain patterns are painstakingly matched, all joinery executed with precision, and each creation is flawlessly finished by hand, yielding smooth, unmistakable results.

My woodwork is entirely custom. It is my belief that if you can dream it and describe it, I can build it for you. The distinctive outcome will be a reflection of your personal style and that of your home.

About My Woodshop

I started my woodshop in 1976 at my home in the desert outside Tucson, Arizona. I’m still in the same location and I’ve been making things for people ever since. In 2012 I installed a 6.7 kWh solar PV array that generates 100% of the electricity I use both in my woodshop and in my home.
